Huron Consulting Group Adds Leading Economic Consulting and Telecommunications Sourcing Experts
CHICAGO – July 19, 2005 – Huron Consulting Group (NASDAQ: HURN), a leading provider of financial and operational consulting services, today announced the additions of Allyn D. Strickland, Ph.D., in the company’s Disputes and Investigations practice focused on Intellectual Property disputes and John D. VerMeulen and J. Dirk VerMeulen in the company’s Strategic Sourcing practice specializing in telecommunications. They have joined Huron at the managing director level. Huron also added Evan J. Katzman and David N. Paris to its ranks at the director level.

Allyn D. Strickland, Ph.D., an economist, has 20 years of experience conducting economic analyses, primarily damages studies in complex litigation matters for attorneys, such as patent infringement, breach of contract, false advertising, business interruption, and preliminary injunctions. He has provided expert testimony on damages issues, including lost profits and reasonable royalties, before U.S. District Courts, the American Arbitration Association, and the Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce. Prior to joining Huron, Strickland headed the New York office of LECG Corporation. He has a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Wisconsin at Madison and a B.A. in economics from Cornell University. Strickland will be based in Huron’s New York office.
JohnD. VerMeulen provides strategic telecommunications cost management services to clients. For more than 35 years, he has worked with telecommunications providers to negotiate and deliver cost efficient and effective telecom solutions for organizations both domestically and internationally. Before joining Huron, he co-founded OptiSave, which provided telecom sourcing and expense management consulting services. He has also held senior management positions at iBasis, Inc., Wildfire Communications, Inc., and Centigram Communications Corporation. VerMeulen, who received his B.A. in Business and Economics from Hope College, will be based in the company’s Chicago office.
J. DirkVerMeulen works with telecom providers to implement effective methods for lowering an organization’s local access, long distance, wireless, and data costs while simultaneously improving service and support. He has more than 14 years of domestic and international expertise with major telecommunications service providers and equipment manufacturers. Prior to joining Huron, he co-founded OptiSave. VerMeulen has also held senior management positions at Arbros Communications and Ameritech. He received his B.A. in Business Administration from Hope College. VerMeulen will be based in Huron’s Chicago office.
Evan J. Katzman focuses on lowering and managing telecommunications costs at organizations. For nearly two decades, he has provided cost effective solutions to clients. Katzman joined Huron’s Strategic Sourcing practice from OptiSave. He has also held senior management positions at Arbros Communications and MCI, Inc. Katzman will be based in the company’s Washington, D.C. office.
David N. Paris, an economist, has 17 years of experience in a wide range of industries using economic analysis to address damages issues arising in complex commercial disputes. He joined Huron’s Disputes and Investigations practice from LECG Corporation, where he was a senior managing economist. Paris will be based in Huron’s Washington, D.C. office.
Huron’s Disputes and Investigations practice provides financial and economic analysis to support law firms and corporations in connection with business disputes, lawsuits and regulatory or internal investigations. The practice has extensive experience in the areas of financial investigations and forensic accounting, including matters involving the Securities and Exchange Commission or other regulatory inquiries, investigations, financial restatements, and special accounting projects. In addition, the practice experts apply economic and econometric analyses in the areas of antitrust and anticompetitive practices, securities fraud, insurance claims and damages, as well as deliver or support independent expert testimony in such cases.
