Case Western Reserve University Selects Huron Consulting Group’s Click Portal Software for Grants Management Processes

CHICAGO, May 08, 2012 (BUSINESS WIRE) --Huron Consulting Group (NASDAQ: HURN), a leading provider of business consulting services, today announced that Case Western Reserve University has chosen the Company's Click(R) Portal software to manage sponsored program administration from proposal generation and submission through award management.

"Thousands of faculty and staff submit and renew more than 2,500 grant applications throughout the year," said Suzanne Rivera, associate vice president, Research, Case Western Reserve University. "With competition for funds increasing, we need a system that simplifies grant application processes for our researchers. We picked Huron's Click solution because it will help ensure accurate electronic submissions to funding sites such as, enable timely processing of extensions and renewals, and also support non-Federal research sponsors."

With approximately $420 million in annual external awards, Case Western is one of the largest research institutions in the United States. For more than a century, the institution has pioneered developments ranging from the discovery of cholesterol's role in blood vessel disease to the creation of the first heart-lung machine for open heart surgeries and the identification of the gene responsible for osteoarthritis.

The Click Portal solution will help Case Western accelerate grant award processes and improve oversight in four principal areas:

  • Proposal Creation and Submission: provides a comprehensive forms library and helps ensure accurate electronic submissions to government funding organizations
  • Proposal Tracking: allows all stakeholders to track, manage, and report on proposals in real time without calling a grants office or searching a difficult-to-use and out-of-date electronic database
  • Proposal Budgeting: enables collaborative online budgeting and reviews
  • Award Management: automates award notification and budget reconciliation, facilitates management reporting, provides on-time award renewals, simplifies subcontractor monitoring, and integrates with existing accounting and HR systems

"As the quest for research funding heats up, accurate proposal submissions and efficient award management are vital to growing the research mission," said Nick Stier, managing director, Huron Education. "Case Western Reserve joins the more than 70 institutions that have selected Click Portal solutions to manage a wide variety of research administration and compliance processes, and we are pleased to assist them in their efforts to secure and manage the funding needed to drive scientific advances."
