Huron Announces Senior Leadership Promotions

February 26, 2019

CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 26, 2019-- Global professional services firm Huron (NASDAQ: HURN) today announced a series of leadership promotions and organizational changes to support and accelerate the achievement of the company’s growth strategy.

“I am pleased to announce a number of leadership promotions that we believe best position Huron for future growth. Today’s senior leadership changes demonstrate our deep pool of talent is prepared to work collectively to achieve our strategic objectives,” said James H. Roth, chief executive officer of Huron. “This realignment of our most senior talent will enhance our ability to more quickly execute our priorities to drive shareholder value, including strengthening our competitive advantages, achieving sustainable revenue growth and margin expansion, and of paramount importance, developing our people.”

Hussey Named President and Chief Operating Officer

C. Mark Hussey has been promoted to president in addition to his responsibilities as chief operating officer. In his new role, Hussey will continue to report to Roth and will now be responsible for the day-to-day management and operations of Huron’s business units in addition to the corporate operations, human resources, marketing and information technology functions. Since joining Huron in 2011, Hussey has been a trusted leader within the company and is highly respected among each of the businesses and corporate departments.

The appointment of Hussey to president and chief operating officer will allow Roth to focus more time and attention on the overall strategic direction of the firm and to partner more closely with Huron’s businesses in the markets they serve. In addition, Roth will be more deeply involved with the attraction, recruitment and retention of top talent, which is the most important asset and growth driver for Huron over the long term.

Gallas Promoted to Healthcare Practice Leader

James G. Gallas has been promoted to practice leader of Huron’s healthcare business, reporting to Hussey. He previously served as the leader of the healthcare business’s strategic sales organization and managing director. He has more than 30 years of healthcare operations, technology and consulting experience helping organizations achieve peak financial performance and sustainable growth. Prior to his sales leadership role, Gallas was responsible for Huron’s healthcare performance improvement and technology services solutions from 2012 to 2015. He has also held various leadership roles with other national consulting firms over the course of his career.

Eschenbach Promoted to Education Practice Leader

Peter J. Eschenbach has been promoted to practice leader of Huron’s education business, reporting to Hussey. He previously served as co-practice leader and managing director of the education business. As a founding member of Huron, Eschenbach has been instrumental in building and growing the company’s education business, creating the world’s largest practice dedicated to serving the higher education industry. In his role as managing director, he has more than 25 years of experience in the business of higher education and academic medical centers, helping clients navigate disruption through strategic planning, performance improvement, enterprise systems deployment and research enterprise solutions.

After nearly ten years leading the education business, Laura A. Yaeger has decided to return more of her focus to the market and serving clients. She is taking on new leadership responsibilities in the education business as the head of sales and client service excellence. For Yaeger and the education business, this is an opportune time to establish this new role focused on assuring that the team achieves its top line growth targets. Yaeger will continue to play an instrumental role in several of Huron’s enterprise-level strategic initiatives and provide leadership within the education business’s student solution.

Wong Promoted to Chief Accounting Officer

Ellen P. Wong has been promoted to chief accounting officer of Huron, reporting to chief financial officer John D. Kelly. Wong previously served as controller.

Wong has held a variety of roles in the finance and accounting department at Huron since she joined the firm in 2004, including her appointment to assistant treasurer in May 2014. Prior to Huron, Wong served in accounting roles at Charles Schwab and was a consultant at Deloitte & Touche.

“I want to thank Mark and Laura for their significant contributions to the healthcare and education businesses. Mark’s success in transforming the healthcare business over the past two years has been critical to positioning that segment for future growth. Over the past ten years, Laura has organically grown the education business while further establishing Huron as the premier consulting partner to the higher education industry. I look forward to partnering with all of these highly talented leaders in their new roles as we seize opportunities to build on our success and execute our growth strategy,” Roth added.

All leadership changes are effective immediately.
